The International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) is a strategic partner for The IIA and since 2013 the collaboration and relationship continues to grow. In fact, IFAC has been instrumental in helping our advocacy efforts with Organization for Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD), ISO, and International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC). IFAC has also included The IIA in many of their global initiatives and it is important for us to demonstrate our commitment to the relationship and assist them.
From 10-13 November 2014 in Rome, IFAC (in collaboration with Consiglio Nazionale dei Dottori Commercialisti e degli Esperti Contabili – CNDCEC) will be hosting the World Congress of Accountants 2014. Speakers from around the world will headline the event featuring topics such as Businesses Thriving in Disruptive Times; Enhancing Government Transparency and Accountability; and Integrated Thinking.
Additionally, IIA Global Chairman Anton van Wyk will join an international panel of experts discussing expectations and the effectiveness of audit committees. Van Wyk, whose chairman’s theme this year is Minding the Gap, will talk on the critical role audit committees play as a conduit between boards, internal auditors, and external auditors.
